As I woke after a tedious and unpleasant flight, I was not pleased to hear that upon arrival into Shanghai from Sydney, I would be taking part in a 3-hour drive! But as the bus pulled off the highway and into the small water town of Zhujiajiao, I came to the conclusion that the wait was 100% worth it.
We boarded traditional channel boats and were escorted through the beautiful village. The vibrant life was ever present, even during daytime. The day was perfect, clear and warm, which only added to the warm and welcoming atmosphere. The locals loved our business as we explored the narrow streets, bustling with markets. The river was lined with temples, food stores and markets. The whole experience had the right balance of vibrance, relaxation/zen, and pure beauty.
